The History of the Wolf Kingdoms in the World of Wintermount

History of Wintermount The Places of Wintermount

The Wolf Kingdoms

In 441 AD, the World of Wintermount saw the rise of its first Kingdom, Tyne, after the ruler who built the first Palace on a Mountain of snow and Ice.  He named the great river that flowed down from Mount Seoli after himself, and the towns along that river soon bore his name as well. Within a hundred years, the Kingdom was renamed Wulfhæfen to honor the acceptance of the metamorphosis, and the grandson of King Tyne I, King Tyne II, was faced with changes happening in his own family with the banishment of his first-born son, Forma, a “Broken Mate.”

At the same time, a line of Royals was beginning in the East, across the Tyne River and in the wastelands bordered by the Dark Forest.  Brought into being by a prophecy of the trees, the birth of the first King of Wolfshield came about when a hapless exiled Lord was imprisoned in the forest, falling in love with the spirit of a hunter who had been trapped there for a hundred years.

Forma of Wulfhæfen sought refuge in the Mountains North of the Kingdom, where he was seduced by a dark spirit and his biology was changed in order to produce a child.  He awakened sleeping demons in the mountains: blood-thirsty, winged creatures who left the frozen passes of Seoli to hunt those unlucky travelers who dwelled in the Kingdoms below.  Thus, BloodMount was awakened, and the dangers there shaped the lives and the journey of the Kingdoms of Wintermount forever after.

Tired of the death and cursed with being a Beta, or “Broken Mate,” like his father, the son of Forma and the Darkness traveled through the lower kingdoms to finally find a home on the Southern Plains, and his dangerous upbringing led him to organize the outcasts into the first Kingdom.  The damming of the river Tyne and the building of a wall led to near starvation and death for those in the Southern Plains, leading them to launch attacks on the Kingdoms of Wulfhæfen and Wolfshield.  To survive, they turned to magic and perfected the metamorphosis by creating the first Dire Wolves who could infiltrate the minds of the weaker wolves to the north without ever having to touch them.

In the year 997 AD, King Tyne III, led by a dark heart and jealousy, secretly betrayed the Kingdom of Wolfshield, their allies.  King Jeongmin, great-great-grandson of the First King of Wolfshield, discovered the truth of the betrayal and, in a turn of events, agreed to marry the son of King Tyne III: Killian, an Omega Prince.  Finally joining their Kingdoms as equals, Jeongmin exacted his revenge at the wedding, leading to the Sorrow of Princes, a time when the sons of Tyne and Jeongmin were plagued with heartache and danger, a hundred years before the end of the Wolves of Wintermount.
